WELCOME TO MY TECHNOLOGY DANCE BLOG SITE

The purpose for this blog is to share information and insights about using technology in the classroom with my fellow teachers and staff at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus PreK School Program in Hellertown, PA, USA.  The blog was originally developed to help all of our staff in our PreK to 8 school.  Unfortunately the Pandemic forced the closure of our K to 8 school program in June of 2020, but our PreK program has been operaing in person classes children 3 and 4 years old since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.  Our PreK program has adopted a wide range of COVID protocols for protecting staff and students. We have continued to develop the technology portion of the program to expand the use of exisiting technology in the classroom and in our common instructional areas as well.  For the 2021-2022 school year we are focusing on increasing the use of the Interactive Display Panels we have in the classrooms, in our common area Friendship Hall, and in the Main Program Hallway and outside of our Main School Entrance.  We have continued using the Android Tablets in all classes and have added specific staff and student training in the use of all technology in the school.  With the arrival of new staff and the expanded enrollment this year, we have focused on begining a plan of technology upgrades and new uses for existing technology over the course of the next three years.  Our technology is also being used in the Pairsh Prep program and has greatly added to the range of content being shared in the Prep Classes.  While this blog is targeted to my colleagues it is open to anyone who is interested in using technology in the classroom.  When I introduce a new topic area for the blog, I like to create stories from my life which are a tool I use when teaching in the classroom.  I find story telling has great power in conveying ideas and sparking imagination and creativity among my students.  Likewise, I hope that the stories posted here will have a similar effect on the teaching and support staff at our school.  I have added several new stories to the blog.  I hope you find the stories interesting  and as always, I follow up with specific technology related tips at the end of each story.  If you haven’t read any of the other stories here I would encourage you to do so before diving into the other content.  One special feature in this blog for the start of this school year is a piece I wrote to help our new teachers and staff better understand how I and other existing staff view the use of technology in the school.  Please take time to read through that document as well.
