PreK Computer Labs and Library Story Time
Effective the 2025-2026 School Year, the old library are was closed as of the beginning of August 2025. A new library area has been established for the PreK Program in the old fifth grade classroom. This library area will be used by the teachers according to the schedule developed by the PreK Director. All library activities will be under the supervision of the classroom teacher while students are using this new library area. At this point we have not established a library loan procedure or policy for that area. In addition to our in-school library area, the staff of the Hellertown Public Library provides a once a month library session for our students. These are fun and engaging experiences to share new picture books with our students and encourage our students to take part in the use of the Public Library in our community.
Computer/STEM classes
Since we no longer have no longer have a computer lab in our school program, each class has access to the tablet computers stored in our teacher lounge area for use on any day in the program. The Program director has set a specific time one day a week for the students to use these tablets in classroom activities. In additional all classrooms are equiped with Promethean Interactive Boards for teacher and student use on a daily basis. At the start of the 2025-2026 school year we added a brand new Promethean Board to the Prek 4A classroom and moved their old Promethean Board to the stage area of Friendship Hall for large group instruction. For the start of the 2026-2027 School year the Promethean Boards in the PreK 4B, PreK 3 and Friendship Hall area will all receive new OPS box upgrades to help that technology stay up to date with the lasted educational applications for use with the curriculum. In addition with the opening of our TK class they will get a new Promethean Board and OPS box for the start of the school year.
STEM Classes
STEM classes were added as part of the regular Computer Classes during the 2024-2025 school year and will continue to be a part of those activities. The STEM classes will tie into monthly themes and teachers are encouraged to create extension STEM activities from the STEM that is part of the Computer Classes. This mixed computer and STEM classes approach will continue for the 2025-2026 school year as well as future school years.
